Biography

Sylvia Friedman

Sylvia Friedman is the president of Insight Track, and a motivational speaker who counts high school and college-aged students among her favorite audiences.  Through her highly popular “I am! Slam!,” Friedman uses a variety of tools and exercises to teach young people how self-acceptance enhances their true talents and abilities, and gives them the power to control their lives, in order to make clear, authentic and informed decisions.  Attendees walk away with the belief that they have what it takes to develop their full potential, and be true to themselves in the process.  Among the schools who have tapped her talent are Northwestern University, Loyola University, National-Lewis University, Pittsburgh Technical Institute, Columbia College and Leyden Township High School.

Friedman brings to her work a keen understanding of the human personality and human dynamics, born out of her work with hundreds of corporations and individuals over the past 20 years, as both a workshop leader and behavioral coach.  The insights that she has developed through this experience have led her to conclude that self-acceptance is too often the missing link to a healthy adulthood.  It is also what inspires her to reach out to young people to help them gain a better understanding of their personalities and to take personal responsibility for their lives as they move towards adulthood.

Previous to founding Insight Track, Friedman served as a Director of the American Heart Association in Chicago, where she founded the Young Professionals for Heart.  Prior to that, she was the Director of Special Events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a Producer for Fred Niles Communications, where she staged Century 21 conventions for seven years.  She earned a B.A. in Speech/Drama and Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Friedman is the author of The Stars in Your Family: Relationships between Parents and Children, Hay House and is a Master Graphologist.  She is currently writing a new book that is due to be published later this year.  A frequent media guest, Friedman’s national credits include: Oprah, Donohue, Ricki Lake, Yolanda, Lifetime, Danny as well as local appearances on FOX-TV, WGN-TV and Radio, ABC-TV’s 190 North, WLS-TV and Radio, Windy City Radio and WJBC Radio.

Friedman is the mother of two children, Layne and Alissa, and resides in Chicago.
